Extended Hiatus
Just thought I'd post a brief update to let you know that the site is not dead (yet), rather laying dormant for a bit. This past year I have ditched hospitality for a design job which I really enjoy, and as a result have felt less need to pursue design outside of work. Also taking a lot of my time is my current project - Restoring a Type 3 Volkswagen. Talk about all-consuming!
I'm still very much interested in keeping the site alive in one form or another but have not yet quite figured out what I would like to do with it. I have found the site gets a fair bit of traffic to the few posts that are here, maybe I just need to focus and post more often. Once my work / life balance stabilises hopefully I'll find more time to post to this site, and rework bits here and there. I'd really like to do something interesting with it (and I'm taking suggestions).
Shrub of the Soul
'This Terrifying Ordeal' is a surreal TV series being filmed in and around Melbourne at the moment and I've just finished creating this prop for them. This guy is the Shrub of the Soul.
They're currently trying to raise money to complete the series - if you're interested in giving them a couple of dollars, check out their project on pozible.com.
Uno Moralez Art
Uno Moralez creates these awesome pixel drawn and gif animated artworks. Be warned though, some are a little creepy and probably NSFW.
The cat-like thing on the wall in this particular drawing inspired me to find and order a Kit-Cat Clock.

Ari Vatanen - Climb Dance
YouTubeI was watching this Ken Block gymkhana video, which reminded me of when I was a kid and dad would dig out this video of Ari Vatanen occasionally on a Saturday afternoon.
I was so in awe of this, and even if it seems a bit dated by today's standards the driving is still amazing. The guy is fast!
Panscrapers 2010
I found this video while trying to get videos embedded nicely on my blog pages. It features a tidy Type 3 Volkswagen and the video is nicely put together. I love the ratty looking Karmann Ghia, and it's inspired me - I'm looking forward to spending some time on my own VW.

Solar Sinter Project
This is brilliant! Artist Markus Kayser has designed and built a machine which uses a process similar to Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), to produce objects from sand.
His machine however, uses solar power and the sun's focused rays to fuse desert sand into a glass-like material. The resulting video is a must watch in my opinion.
