Tasmania

February 14th, 2010

Just got back from my sebatical in our southern-most state, cycling down the east coast from St Helens through to Hobart. I took heaps of photos on two cameras and have to get around to looking through them, probably today. In the meantime here’s few I snapped on the camera phone. Newchies.

Plywood Trucks, post Animalistic

November 18th, 2009

This has been sitting on my camera for over a month now, I’ve finally had the chance to upload it. It’s one of the three pieces I’d shown at the Animalistic show, which was the beginning of last month. There are a few process photos after the jump..

Screenprint on glass – Senor Rudin’s Chilli Tequila

November 17th, 2009

Just yesterday printed this bottle for a birthday present. I love how it turned out, but had a heap of trouble because the screen mesh was way coarse and the ink quite thin. The design is actually had crisp lines and I’m lucky the distressed look is appropriate in this case – it’s left me thinking overtime about a good screen an ink combination for glass. I’d love to do some stained glass prints or something.

I’d also be interested to know if ‘Trigesimo Cumpleanos’ really does mean ‘Thirtieth Birthday’ in Spanish..

Red Bubble tees

October 28th, 2009

I’ve made a couple of my t-shirt designs are available through my Red Bubble account. The first, Lover’s Cupcakes I drew for good friends of mine, Liz and Bec. Because they like cupcakes. Why else?

The Peace on the High Seas tee is based on a hand printed tee I’d made, and wanted to see how well the Red Bubble tees came out. I’ve been wearing my personal print of the High Seas design for over a year now, and it’s still good as new.

They’re printed on American Apparel stock and both AU$32.00 each, AU$34.50 if you opt for the long-sleeve.

Social networking out. Or why I deleted my facebook

October 5th, 2009

It wouldn’t otherwise be worth a mention, but if you tire of Facebook enough to want out, instead of easily deleting your account they allow you to ‘de-activate’. If you’re brave enough to switch off, I’ll admit I was slightly reluctant to make the click – You’re informed that you can ‘re-activate’ at any time.

Friends are still able to invite you to events, there might be an important message in your inbox, or one you’re about to receive. Thanks for offering guys, but I still want out. I’m reluctant to have that much personal information stored when I don’t know who has access to it, namely advertisers.

Facebook seem to make it deliberately hard to find a way to delete your account, I spent a couple of hours deleting my friends and personal information. This morning though, I found this link:

http://www.facebook.com/help/contact.php?show_form=delete_account

That’s a little easier. Now I’m free of social networking, I have piece of mind and more control over my presence on the internet. Don’t even get me started on Twitter.

I hope you might also consider similar attack. If you really want to put something out there – Create your own content, host your own blog, switch things up a bit and help shape your own web 2.0. It’s like growing your own vegetables.

Shiny Showcase Part 2

August 20th, 2009

The prints I ordered have arrived and thought I’d post a quick photo, they look really good in person. I’m afraid some kind of shopping bug may have hit, I’ve already ordered this print from Poster Cabaret.
